Tag: Overhyped and Underwhelmed

This post is in response to Lollipop26's post. I think that this is a great idea. I always enjoy hearing what people love but it is also very useful to know what they disliked as well. I guess I should get on with it. So here are my disappointments...well some of them.

Product #1 Diorshow Mascara... When I joined Youtube this was all the rage. There were tons of videos raving about this product. Naturally, I went out to try it for myself. Major disappointment, this did not give me long, full, or even clump free lashes. I had a hard time not looking like a tarantula when I was wearing this. The price is another downfall to this product.

Product #2 L'oreal's HIP Gel Eyeliners......ughhh is all I have to say about this product. I fell victim to temptation after a couple of reviews stated that it was a dupe for the MAC gel eyeliner. Not so. The HIP liner dried up so fast I only was able to use it for a month and when it wasn't a hard shrunken cake, it was impossible to get just what I needed out of the pot. I felt that when I stuck the tip of my brush in I could only get a huge chunk. So, I tossed it along with the other two colors I had purchased.

Product #3 Solar Bits from MAC...I feel like a trader posting this product but it is true not everything that MAC makes is amazing and this product is proof. This product is so hard to work with and the fall out is immense. It is just not worth the effort to use this product when there are a hundred other products that will get the job done easier.

Product#4 NARS eyeshadows...I purchased a few of their eyeshadows to give them a go but the payoff was terrible. I love other products that NARS makes I don't know what goes wrong with their eyeshadows. It is not just the payoff that is terrible. I feel their whole eyeshadow concept is bad: their range of colors is limited, plus it is littered with very unwearable colors, and the majority of them leave me looking like a disco ball.

Please let me know what products you have been disappointed in, I am curious.

In's and Outs 1

I think this is a great post and I enjoy reading them!

So here it goes

In's

1. YSL Rouge Voulpte #7, I have been wearing this the last two weeks. I have practically forgotten about my other lipsticks. I should probably start showing them a little love.

2. Fridays, I love Fridays because I get to see my boyfriend..we are doing the long distance thing.

3. The weather, it has been so beautiful this month 75-85 degrees. My favorite weather. I hope it continues.

4. Mermaid to Order nail polish from Sephora. I adore this nail polish and have been wearing in on my toes for the last few days. I love that it is a perfect summer polish but will also liven up the fall.

Out's
1. Being tired, I was recently promoted within my company and they have not replaced my old position. So....that means I am pretty much working two full time jobs. Errr...the explanation for my absence here. Sorry.
2. Car shopping....way to much work.

Chicago Haul

Hauls....... oh how I love them. I really enjoy watching and reading about other's haul videos. I am interested to see what sort of products and gimmicks (in my case) people purchase. As stated earlier I am often bamboozled into purchasing an item through any means of sparkly packaging or pretty packaging in general. Because of this I have been disappointed many times, I am not deterred, however.

Recently, I went to Chicago with my mom and sister. I picked up somethings that I have been wanting to try for quite awhile. The first stop I made was to the Yves Saint Laurent counter in Nordstrom's. I have been wanting to try some of their lip products for a very long time but have not been able to get my hands on them; as they are not sold here in good ol' Nebraska.

I only picked up one item. WOW talk about self control. The product of chose was their Rouge Voulpte in #7 or lingerie pink (pictured below). LOVE IT!!!

It is such a nice bright pink. I usually go for more netural pink or nude lips. But have been trying to venture out of my box, in regards to lip products. I really like the texture of this liupstick it is very smooth and I feel pretty mosturizing. I will have to say that its staying power is lacking. But I am willing to overlook it as the color is so nice.

I also ventured to the MAC Pro store and picked up a few things including a few eyeshadow compacts. The only new product that I purchased here was fleshpot lipstick. I love creme d' nude and have been wanting to try its sibling for quite sometime. I am still trying to work with this one to see how it works best. On its own, I find it to be a bit too pale, at least for me. Let me know how you use this lipstick!

Well, that was about all for my makeup haul in Chicago. I did but some other things fashio related so let me know if you would be interested in seeing those.

My First Blog!!!

I have taken the plunge into the blogging world. After spending the last six months finding myself completely addicted to beauty blogs as well as YouTube makeup gurus; I have decided to start my own musings about cosmetics, beauty products and fashion.

I suppose you all will want to know a little bit about me. I am 24 years old and living in Nebraska. I know what you all are thinking...Nebraska? Well, it is not as bad as one might think. We are slowly becoming the next big city.

Anyway, I have been obsessed with makeup since I was about ohh 16 and standing in front of the Benefit counter in Macy's. The gal there was explaining to me how to wing out my eyeliner as she had. That day I purchased their Babe Cake and a liner brush and have been hooked ever since.

I have seen a favorites tag going around and thought that I might borrow and expand on that idea as my first posting. I have a tendency to be fickle towards my makeup and my favorites seem to change frequently. So lets consider this my at the moment favorites.

Foundation: Revlon ColorStay in Normal to Dry Skin in Sand Beige
Concealer: MAC Studio Sculpt Concealer in NW20
Blush: MAC Spaced Out
Bronzer: MAC So Ceylon MSF
Eyeshadow: MAC All that Glitters,MAC Soft Brown and MAC Sable
Mascara: L'oreal Double Extend Beauty Tubes in black
Liner: Stila Eye liner in Onyx
Lipstick: MAC Color Crafted
Lip gloss: MAC Queen Bee
Lipliner: MAC Lip pencil in Subculture

As you can see the vast majority of my products are by MAC. MAC is one of my preferred brands; along with Benefit, Urban Decay, Two Faced, Stila, and Revlon. I would have to say that MAC is my favorite high end brand and Revlon would have to be my favorite drugstore brand. I also like physicians formula however their line is quite small.

I look forward to meeting new people with shared interests as I embark on this new journey. Please leave me feedback and feel free to ask me questions.
